Ex-firey to be sentenced next month

A SENTENCING date has been listed for a former Banora Point fire firefighter charged with child pornography offences.

On November 3 last year, Tony Brian Gillespie, 31, was arrested and charged with four counts of using a carriage service to transmit, publish or promote child pornography material and possessing material intended to breach section 474.19.

On December 8, he pleaded guilty to all charges.

Police alleged Gillespie downloaded and shared thousands of filed, including child pornography material of varying severity, through a file sharing website.

Gillespie faced Lismore Local Court on Monday April 7.

His strict conditional bail was continued and he will face Lismore District Court for sentencing on May 11.
