Ex-Sydney candidate for Greens

THE Northern Rivers Greens have nominated a former Sydney councillor for the seat of Lismore at the NSW State Election on March 26.

Susan Stock, from Mt Nardi near Nimbin, said she wanted to help the community work together against climate change to avoid extreme weather events and to pass on a safe climate.

“Urgent action on reducing carbon emissions is cheaper in the long run than delaying the inevitable and can provide green jobs now and for the future,” Ms Stock said.

She said coal mining in rich agricultural areas should be prevented and there should be a moratorium on coal seam gas exploration.

Ms Stock was especially concerned about the exploitation of coal seam gas in the Northern Rivers and the danger of polluting our rivers, springs and wells with dangerous chemicals.
