Expect high fuel prices: RACQ

RACQ executive manager of public policy  Michael Roth has urged Gold Coasters to avoid petrol stations over the school holidays if possible, due to the high increase in prices.

Mr Roth said the average price of fuel on the Gold Coast today is $1.53 a liter which is higher than the RACQ would like to see.

"We recommend people don't fill up their cars too much during the school holidays if they can help it," Mr Roth said.

"This is the normal cycle of fuel but it seems petrol stations are taking advantage of the school holidays and putting up prices much higher than expected.

"We are not sure what the future holds but people need to get used to these prices because they are not going to change."
