Fairytales do come true here

FAIRYTALE castles, hillside villas, snow covered alps … talk about romance!

Albatross Travel is offering a fantastic tour taking in some of Europe's gems including many areas that are unexpected delights.

The 15-day adventure starts in Croatia, an exotic location not fully explored by many Australian travellers, but fast gaining popularity as the “Nice of the East” and with very good reason.

The coastal town of Opatija, with its laid back charm, ornately beautiful architecture and hillside villas, is one of the unexpected gems in this trip through Slovenia, Bavaria and Croatia.

The tour begins in Munich and travels through the Bavarian Alps to the village of Hohenschwangau, where you'll spend three days visiting the castles, monasteries and churches of the region, including the world famous Fairy Tale castle of Neuschwanstein.

Then it's off to spend three days in Salzburg exploring Mozart's baroque city and visiting Hitler's Eagles Nest retreat at Berchtesgaden.

Two days are spent by Lake Bled visiting Slovenia's capital of Ljubljana and the Bohinj Valley.

And where better to finish than the land of romance?

The tour concludes with two nights in Italy staying in Castelbrando, a former palace built on the site of a Roman fortress in the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains.

From here travellers descend through the Po Valley to Venice.

Cost is $5149 which includes tips, hotel porterage, entrance fees, daily breakfast and most dinners.
