Family wins a race across Australia that ends in Cooly
A THREE-week race across Australia came to an end at Coolangatta on Friday, with the McCulloch family from Brisbane taking out first prize in the final challenge, which tested their camping prowess.
Thanks to their win, the family of four got to pick from 50 identical cash bags for the chance to win up to $20,000.
Alas, they picked out the bag containing $1000, but it will still help offset the cost of their caravan holiday.
The family took in the sights and attractions in places like Dubbo, Broken Hill and Albury-Wodonga, and enjoyed meeting interesting and friendly characters along their journey.
Three adventurous teams participated in the Escape2 Adventure, with the McCulloch family racing across NSW, while young Perth mates Joe Reeves and George Mill braved the elements in Queensland.
Meanwhile, Ian and Judy Pyke raced across their home state of Victoria.
The teams shared their adventure, run by Coolangatta-based holiday park chain Escape2 Holiday Parks and Resorts, by blogging and tweeting throughout.
The goal of the competition was to promote holiday parks, local attractions and regional centres.
