Fatal accident on Pacific Hwy at Boambee

1:30pm: ONE southbound lane of the Pacific Hwy is now open at Boambee after a fatal car and pedestrian accident this morning.

The highway had been closed to southbound motorists following the accident at Sawtell Rd. All diversions have been lifted, but motorists are advised to expect delays and allow additional travel time until heavy traffic eases.

 

10.50am: POLICE have confirmed the pedestrian who died at the scene was a man but have yet to formally identify him.

The man driving the Toyota HiAce wasn't injured in the accident but has been taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

 

9.30am: A FATAL accident on the Pacific Hwy at Boambee is forcing traffic to divert around the scene.

Police have confirmed a pedestrian was struck by a southbound vehicle near the BP service station at around 9:30am.

Police are diverting southbound traffic through the SawtellRd/Lindsays Rd turnoff. The diversion is expected to be in place for at least an hour.

Traffic is heavy approaching the incident.

Motorists are advised to reduce speed, exercise caution and allow additional travel time or alternatively travel south along Hogbin Dr if possible.
