Fatal crash driver had not been drinking, say police

THE driver of a car which struck and killed a Banora Point man didn't have alcohol in their system, according to police.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said it's still unclear how the male victim, 27, came to be walking along the Tugun Bypass when he was hit by the passing car about 1am on February 22.

It's understood the man crashed his car, before walking towards the Stewart Rd, Currumbin Waters, on-ramp where he was hit.

Forensic examinations are yet to be completed on the victim.

"These results generally take some time to be examined and will form a part of the ongoing investigation by the Forensic Crash Unit," the spokeswoman said.

While no charges have been laid, the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident and have gathered statements from people involved.
