Big Fernvale drug bust

POLICE have discovered a hydroponic drug plantation at Fernvale.

Tweed/Byron police local area command inspector Jim Kain said police uncovered more than 100 marijuana plants and a large amount of stolen goods during a raid on Friday night.

“Police executed a search warrant of a rural property at Fernvale,” Insp Kain said.

“At the location they found a stolen trailer, an amount of stolen tools and electronic equipment and stolen car parts.

“As well as 132 marijuana plants being grown hydroponically.”

Insp Kain said inquiries are continuing at this stage.

“No charges have been laid,” he said.

“A number of people are assisting police with their enquiries.”

Insp Kain said he could not estimate the street value of the marijuana plants.
