Cooly Rocks On festival rockin’ on and up this weekend
COOLY Rocks On begins this weekend with an action-packed start to what could be the event's biggest year.
The region will be rumbling with the sound of vintage cars for the next few weeks.
Cooly Rocks On chief executive officer Bob Newman said accommodation vendors were booked out from South Tweed to Palm Beach.
"I think we'll go over 100,000 this year if the weather's good," he said.
"The beauty of Cooly Rocks On is it's a feelgood festival.
"So drop everything you're doing and come along."
For the first time, Cooly Rocks On punters can hop in a helicopter and see the spectacle from above.
ABC Helitours owner and pilot Andrew Mills had high hopes the rides, taking off from a special Kirra Groyne helipad, would be a hit.
"So many people come out for Cooly Rocks On," Mr Mills said.
"I thought it would be a good opportunity for our business and for the people at the event."
With good weather on the cards, Mr Mills said it would be a great addition to the Cooly Rocks On experience.
"I think most people will be keen to get up there," he said. "It's a totally different sensation."
