Fingal Beach vying for title of cleanest beach in NSW

FINGAL Head has been named the cleanest beach in NSW.

Soon, it will take on four other beaches for the Australian Clean Beaches Award 2014.

The Keep Australia Beautiful National Clean Beaches judge Averil Bones said there are many reasons Fingal Head has been chosen.

"They will be very competitive when the national judging takes place," Ms Bones said.

"I can't wait to visit and see all these achievements first hand."

Judging criteria includes community action and partnerships, litter prevention, resource recovery and waste management, environmental innovation and protection, water conservation, energy innovation, heritage and culture and youth engagement.

The final judging takes place over the second half of May.
