Finks bikie detained on charges

A FINKS bikie has been charged in relation to robberies on the North Coast after police found the man at the outlaw motorcycle gang's Chinderah clubhouse.

The 27-year-old was picked up when police attended the clubhouse to carry out a licensing inspection.

Officers recognised the Banora Point man, who is alleged to have been involved a number of robberies, when they showed up at the Morton Street clubhouse about 8.30pm.

It is understood the charges relate to robberies in the Tweed area and further south on the coast, but yesterday police could not provide any further details on those events.

The man was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences, including robbery in company, aggravated assault with intent to rob, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, and two counts of demanding property by force.

He appeared before the Tweed Heads Local Court yesterday where he was formally refused bail.

He is due to appear before Lismore Local Court today.

Sergeant Garry Jardine of Tweed/Byron Police said no other offences were detected during the visit to the outlaw motorcycle gang's clubhouse.
