Fire bug still out there, authorities relying on public

AN ARSONIST who lit up to eight fires on the Tweed Coast Rd is still out there.

Both the Rural Fire Service and police have had no hints from the public as to who might be responsible.

Far North Coast operations officer Inspector Bob Wilcox said another purposely lit fire was found by Wooyung residents late Saturday afternoon.

"It's impossible to tell if they're related," he said.

The fire was at the Tweed Valley end of Wooyung Rd.

"People were just leaving their home and noticed it,"Insp Wilcox said.

On Friday afternoon Cudgen RFS were called to eight suspicious fires on Tweed Coast Rd.

At this stage the authorities are relying on the public to report suspicious behaviour to the police.
