Fire chiefs to attend funeral

ANDREW “Packy” Turnbull will begiven full fire brigade honours at his funeral service today.

The Kingscliff firefighter who died while attending a grass fire at Fingal Head a week ago will be farewelled by an expected crowd of 1500 people at the Cudgen Leagues Club at 1pm, followed by his wake at the same location.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Both the New South Wales and Queensland Fire Brigade commissioners will attend to pay their respects to Mr Turnbull and his family.

Mr Turnbull will be brought to his rugby league club of more than 25 years by a fire brigade hearse and escorted by several fire engines.

The family of Mr Turnbull have asked instead of flowers if people can make a donation to the Kingscliff Fire Brigade today.
