Fire engulfs shopping strip in Auburn, western Sydney
FIRE authorities say a major blaze has taken hold of a Sydney shopping strip, with reports of multiple shops being engulfed.
At least one person has been evacuated with possible injuries, and fire engines, ambulances and police officers have rushed to the scene in Auburn, 20 kilometres from Sydney's CBD.

An athletics shop and a kebab shop are among those to have been affected, according to reports. Auburn Road is the centre of the bustling suburb close to the railway station.
Buses in the area are being redirected away from the blaze.
Fire and Rescue NSW told news.com.au eight fire trucks were in attendance with equipment to deal with hazardous material fires.

Starting in a commercial premises, the blaze had spread to a number of different floors and had affected a second premises.
The fire was currently "contained", a spokesman said, but the incident was still "unfolding".
