Fire rips through Bungalora building site, no one injured

THE frame of a house still under construction is still standing despite a fire ripping through at the weekend.

Tweed NSW Fire and Rescue station officer Steve Sharp said firefighters were called to the scene about 12.15pm Saturday.

He said hay bales being used to make the frame of the house had caught alight.

"It creates quite a good house if it doesn't catch on fire while you're building," he said.

The Balfours Rd, Bungalora property fire required assistance from three brigades to help put it.

Both Tweed and Banora Point NSW Fire and Rescue attended along with the Bilambil Rural Fire Service.

"There was no water out there so we had to keep bringing it in," he said.

"Eventually it was put out."

Tweed-Byron Local Area Command Inspector Brendon Cullen said it appeared the fire wasn't suspicious.

No one was hurt during the fire.
