10.20am: POLICE have confirmed a four-year-old boy was believed to have started the fire which destroyed a Murray St family home this morning.

The boy was transported to hospital with burns to his chest and hands.

Investigations are ongoing.

8.10am: THE house fire in Murray Street has been extinguished and firefighters remain on scene as damage indicates the roof could collapse.

Reports indicate at least five people have been transport to Rockhampton Hospital, including a four-year-old child.

It is believed a four-year-old child has received minor burns and the fire started in the room of the child.

Reports indicate the fire was well-involved when fire crews arrived on scene.

7.40am: THREE fire trucks are at the scene of a house fire in Murray Street.

The smoke from the fire can be seen across the region with one person noticing the smoke from Queen Elizabeth Drive (see photo).

The latest information suggests there were six people in the house when it caught alight and all are now accounted for.

7.30am: FIREFIGHTERS are responding to reports of a house fire in Murray Street.

It is believed the fire is well involved.

Reports indicate the family of the house have evacuated.
