Firestorm casts its net very wide
A LOCAL motorcycle dealer is “firestorming” the digital-age.
Firestorm Motorcycles, at 14 Machinery Dr, Tweed Heads, first hit the internet in 2005 and has created another two websites since.
Owner and founder Sam Hurley said it was important he kept his business fresh and modern.
“We are developing a new website featuring the latest technology, some crazy prices and ease of use,” Mr Hurley said.
“Our current website offers a great range of the latest motorcycle apparel and accessories that can be easily shipped Australia-wide.
“We can also arrange for new bikes to be shipped to any location.
“We also see the importance of time constraints on the consumer and offering to ship the items to their door leaves them more time for important things like family and time on the bike.”
Mr Hurley said he established great relationships with a range of couriers and so could offer cheap freight to anywhere in Australia.
“Some of our local customers even prefer to have items sent to them to save time,” he said.
“One thing we have found is that in the past we were totally reliant on web specialists to change anything on the site and technology changes at such a fast pace that you cannot afford to sit back when you're done.
“We have invested time on in-house training, and are less reliant on third parties.”
He said when setting up any online business, whether you were a “bricks and mortar” store or 100% online, took an enormous amount of time.
“There is an obvious cost associated with it, but finding that extra time is a big challenge.”
“Big businesses like Harvey Norman and Myers were against going online and now they have both set up online stores to adapt to the market.”
Firestorm Motorcycles' focus is to provide good value service, spares and accessories to its clients as well as a range of new motorcycles from $1790 to $4990.
Its team is offering Sachs, TGB, Laro, CF Moto and Daelim brands in scooters, road bikes and trail bikes which are priced cheaper than many second hand bikes and come with full 12 to 24-month warranties.
Mr Hurley said the Sachs Amici 125cc was the fourth highest selling scooter in Australia in 2010.
“The strong Aussie dollar is also starting to have an effect on the price of clothing and accessories with price drops of up to 30% already seen so far this year on many of the major brands such as Alpinestar and Fox,” he said.
