Firie women as hot as the men

GOLD Coast female firefighters are used to putting their lives on the line but have now taken up a different type of challenge.

Women who usually sweat it out during fire and rescue operations have glammed-up for a calendar shoot all in the name of charity.

The 12 women, who are featured in the calendar, are all qualified firefighters.

Firefighters Karen Bradley, Kirsty Hearn, Lia Drew and Aleisha Ragen represented the Gold Coast during the calendar shoot.

Senior firefighter Karen Bradley said the photo-shoot was a chance to mix with other female colleagues.

“When I started there were only about six female firefighters in Queensland and the numbers have really grown,” Ms Bradley said.

“It's also good to let people know we are out there. My son tells his friends ‘my Mum's a firefighter' and they say ‘don't you mean your Dad?'. It's important for people to know women do this job.”
