Fitness comes first
MIREILLE Ryan is Queensland's best fitness professional.
The Reedy Creek personal trainer was named Queensland Fitness Professional of the Year by Fitness Australia last week.
“I am honoured to accept the title and hope to use it this year to educate people in the values of Fitness Australia,” Ms Ryan said.
“I am so passionate about helping people, especially women.
“Clients initially come to me for weight loss but have also found that they reclaim their lives by gaining more energy, improving strength, reducing back pain and building confidence.”
For more than a decade Ms Ryan said she has helped women make over their bodies as well as their thinking.
She has trained women in Sydney, Brisbane and now runs Health Guru Boot Camp on the Gold Coast.
Ms Ryan is also co-founder of a free fitness website for mothers called The Busy Mums Fitness Club.
A mother of three young children, Ms Ryan said she knew how hard it was to get back into shape after having children.
“I know how difficult it is to find time to take care of yourself,” she said.
Fitness Australia asks fitness professionals from across the country to nominate themselves for the title each year.
Ms Ryan was named a finalist in 2008 and beat 160 nominees for the title this year.
State and territory winners and finalist have been recognised for demonstrating quality service, innovation, community connection and commitment to industry standards.
Chief executive officer Lauretta Stace said Ms Ryan's nomination was outstanding.
“Mireille demonstrated a high level of professionalism with significant impact and influence through the success of her website,” Ms Stace said.
“She is an outstanding advocate for the work of Fitness Australia and its commitment to professionalism within the fitness industry.”
Ms Ryan is now in the running for the national title, which will be announced at the 2010 Australian Health and Fitness Industry Awards Gala Dinner on October 22, in Melbourne.
