Five fantastic things to do on the Tweed this weekend

  • TWIN Towns & District Garden Club will hold its Annual Flower & Garden Expo on 14th September from 8.30 to 3.30. Entry $3.00, children are free. Members and non members invited to exhibit. Plant sales and workshops. Morning tea and light refreshments available. All welcome.

 

  • EXPERIENCE a wondrous display of over 50 sculptures built by local, national and international artists at the 11th annual Swell Sculpture Festival along Currumbin Beach 13 - 22 September, 2013. The free exhibition is open all hours with a selection of sculptures revealing a new verve as they are lit up under the southern sky. Over 10 days, visitors can experience the sculptures, enjoy twilight walks, informative artist talks, discover new perspectives at the 'The Couch', wander through the Swell Smalls Gallery and participate in artist master classes and childrens' workshops.

 

  • COUNCIL is inviting the community to a tree planting on Saturday,September 14, at the Pottsville Wetland. Please come along for the morning and help create future habitat for the fauna of the Pottsville Wetlands. The holes will already be dug; all we need is your enthusiasm and time. When: 9am on Saturday 14 September at Kellehers Road at Pottsville. Take Tweed Coast Road, then Overall Drive south from Pottsville Village along the creek, until you reach the roundabout at Kellehers Road. Turn right onto Kellehers Road and continue on past the gate and on to the dirt road to the planting site. There is parking along the dirt road.   • REGENT Cinema in Murwillumbah on Sunday is hosting Jazz at the Regent with Lil'Fi and special guests. Enjoy a great couple of hours of blues and Jazz. There is an array of food for purchase along with beverages, including wine and beer. Cover charge is $15 adult / $12 concession and the entertainment begins at 5pm and goes through until 7.30pm.
