HERE'S five fun things to do around the Tweed this weekend:

Markets

ENJOY a day out at the monthly Chillingham Village Markets with breakfast and lunch available, gourmet coffee, fresh local produce, plants and more. With the warm weather here bring your swimmers and cool of in the swimming hole. Markets are held at the Chillingham Community Centre, 1469 Numinbah Rd. Phone market coordinator Sue, 0428 793141.

Snorkel

HEAD on into Cooly Dive on Saturday to have a chat about taking a snorkelling tour over to Cook Island. Cook Island plays host to an abundance of soft and hard coral gardens, lots of fish life like lionfish, groper, damselfish, clown fish, kingfish, schools of baitfish to many to name. Green turtles are abundant all year round, with the occasional loggerhead and hawks bil turtles also hanging around in this turtle sanctuary. You'll be provided with top quality masks, snorkels, fins and springsuits for the warm months and full length wetsuits for the colder months. Sand trail

SAND Safari presents the Gold Coast Sand Trail from Saturday to March 2. Follow the trail from as far north as Helensvale south to Tweed Heads to discover all 14 magical sand sculptures. The main theme of this year's event is myths, legends and fairy tales. Come down and check out these incredible masterpieces and take part in voting for the people's choice award. Water sports

SITUATED at Jack Evans Boat Harbour you will find Big Trev's Watersports. Big Trev is an icon in Tweed having had the watersport business there for years. You can hire paddleboats, sailing catamarans, stand up paddle boards and kayaks. There are also beach sports, wild fish feeding and the resident local turtle along with dolphins turn up most days.

Explore sanctuary

CURRUMBIN Sanctuary has been around for many years and there is so much to do than most visitors can imagine. They still have the famous lorikeet feeds twice a day as well as many more attractions. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for the most natural and relaxed experience of the big attractions on the Gold Coast, mixed with fun for all ages. The exciting wild island adventure play area is ideal for the little ones whilst the adventure parc high ropes course is fantastic for bigger kids their parents.
