Flash flood warning for coast
DESPITE widespread falls across the Tweed and a flash flood warning issued for the Gold Coast, the Bureau of Meteorology has not issued a weather warning for the region.
At 12.05pm (NSW), the bureau issued a flash flood warning for the Gold Coast with 100-150mm of rain expected in a 24-hour period and possible isolated rainfall in excess of 200mm.
The heaviest hit areas will be the coast and coastal ranges.
"An upper low over southeast Queensland is expected to move slowly westwards tonight and into NSW on Saturday," the bureau said in its severe weather warning.
"A surface trough off the southern Queensland coast is expected to move onto the coast tonight."
The bureau's Saturday forecast for the Tweed is for rain to increase.
The next update of the bureau's weather warnings is expected at 6pm.
