Motorcyclist evades police but leaves licence behind

POLICE were on the hunt late Sunday for an elusive motorbike rider who became aggressive after he was pulled over, before speeding off at an estimated 150km/h towards Mooloolaba.

The 59-year-old had been pulled over on the east-west Sunshine Motorway near Sippy Downs and, after handing over his licence, he suddenly became annoyed and sped away.

Officers called for backup at the site, but the motorcyclist was too quick.

Police believe the rider, understood to be from Beerwah, intended to head to Sippy Downs before changing his mind to continue toward Mooloolaba.

The bike is described as a blue 1981 Kawasaki.

Police believe he may have been riding along with another "large" man on an older-style yellow motorbike.

There was no pursuit as the police have the rider's licence.
