Flooded roads closed
RAIN across the Tweed and Southern Gold Coast has again closed roads across the region - some of which had only just reopened after the rain on Wednesday.
Clothiers Creek Rd was closed again with water over the road east of the Pacific Highway close to the Madura tea farm.
Other Tweed roads closed due to flooding today include Mt Warning Rd, the Boat Harbour and Numinbah Rd intersection, Pottsville Rd, Terranora Rd, Tweed Coast Rd and Tweed Valley Way.
The rain cell over the Tweed this morning also hit parts of Southern Gold Coast.
According to the Gold Coast City Council, 10 arterial roads were closed at 12pm today.
Roads closed include:
- Berrigans Rd, Mudgeeraba
- Gunsynd Dr, Mudgeeraba
- Somerset Dr, Mudgeeraba
- Araluen Rd, Tallebudgera Valley
- Currumbin Creek Rd (Dolans Crossing Park)
- Daltons Rd, Tallebudgera Valley
- Mt Cougal Rd, Tallebudgera Valley
- Tallebudgera Creek Rd (past Dickfos Rd)
- Trees Rd, Tallebudgera Valley
- Reedy Creek Road (service rd) Reedy Creek
The Bureau of Meteorology forecast that the Tweed River at Murwillumbah would peak at 4pm today at about 3m. The bureau has warned that further rainfall was likely to increase flood levels. The bureau warned that the worst might not be over with rain predicted on the weekend and a new front bringing more rain early next week.
