They're crazy about fancy food, what about personal taste?

YOUR SAY: AT the moment we are inundated with cooking shows via TV and all the relevant magazines.

These shows feature food from all Asian, European, South American and nearly every country on the face of the earth. We are told by world famous chefs how and what we should eat.

It seems that a simple meal cannot be eaten unless it is sprinkled, dusted and pasted with a variety of herbs and spices.

I always thought that a meal should be judged by what tastes the best to the palate. Everyone's palate is not the same so how can these experts dictate how we should eat?

I personally like my vegetables well-cooked instead of blanched, mashed instead of baked, my meat well-cooked instead of rare. My wife quite often does not like my choice of food, but we compromise.

Why should a world-renowned chef charge ridiculous prices for a meal which is not everyone's kettle of fish? Do some chefs use myriads of herbs and spices to cover up bad cooking?
