Footy Show apologises over racist comments

THE head of Channel Nine's The Footy Show has apologised for a racist skit.

On Thursday night's show, retired NRL player Beau Ryan (pictured) asked a woman of Asian descent if she planned to eat one of three dogs she was looking at in a shop window.

Executive producer Glenn Pallister said the joke was offensive.

"We apologise for any offence caused. The segment is a comedy one where we have fun with people, but not intentionally at their expense," he said yesterday.

"We clearly went too far."
