FOR some, June may seem a little too early to even be thinking about buying Christmas presents for the kids.

But for hundreds of savvy shoppers across the city, this month is the perfect time to don their imaginary Santa hats.

This month three major retailers: Big W, Target and Myer are staging mega toy sales.

Toowoomba's Target store in Grand Central was a hive of activity yesterday as the sale entered its second day.

With catalogue in hand, and a bulging trolley, Oakey mum Shayla King stocked up on toys for her three children.

"We get all our Christmas shopping done and it's only June," Ms King said.

"I reckon we would save a couple of hundred dollars."

Rather than stage a specific toy sale, Kmart stores have instead released a new range of toys.

"The range of toys has really expanded and we're giving families affordable options," Kmart Toowoomba manager Janita Patch said.

The new approach from Kmart came after research found some customers found shopping for toys "stressful".
