Forecast for less rain this week
THE Tweed looks set to avoid more heavy rain this week with just 50mm forecast for the Northern Rivers over the next seven days.
Weather Channel senior meteorologist Tom Saunders said it was unlikely the region would receive rainfall similar to last week.
More than 500mm fell on the region in just three days causing flooding in most low lying areas and isolating Tweed Valley towns.
"Most of the flooding has now receded and at the moment it doesn't look like there's any major rain event for the Northern Rivers next week," Mr Saunders said.
"The heaviest rain will be to the west and south of the north east corner of the state with only light falls on the Tweed and Richmond-Wilsons river valleys."
Temperatures should remain mild and just below average, with a high of 30 degrees on Tuesday and 29 degrees for the rest of the week.
