Frankie J Holden to rock Cooly
WELL-KNOWN rock'n'roll face Frankie J Holden hit the Gold Coast on Saturday to put his weight behind the upcoming Cooly Rocks On festival.
Holden will feature in a Johnny O'Keefe celebration concert on June 8 at the Coolangatta Tweed Golf Club as part of the festival, which will run from June 1 to 11.
"On the 20th anniversary of JO'K's death the O'Keefe family asked me to do a tribute to Johnny, performing with the original line-up of his backing band The DeeJays," Holden said.
"Since then I have nearly always included a JO'K medley in my live shows."
At the celebration concert Holden will sing Johnny O'Keefe favourites including The Wild One, She's My Baby, Shout and Take My Hand.
On June 9 Holden will team up with fellow ambassador Wilbur Wilde for another concert, which he said would wind back the clock to 1955.
"We've also added a repertoire of classic Aussie rock from other great artists and we have some of the best musicians in Australia to help us perform them.
