Friendly town winner!

MUDGEERABA is the friendliest town in south-east Queensland.

The declaration was made on July 27 at the 2009 Ergon Energy Tidy Towns regional awards in Ipswich.

Gold Coast City divisional Councillor Ted Shepherd said he always knew Mudgeeraba was the friendliest town.

“You only have to wander down the main street and chat to some locals to discover we have a warm and friendly community here,” Cr Shepherd said.

He said locals were very proud of their pioneering history.

“We love to share our heritage with others and people find this enthusiasm contagious.

“That's why I'm not surprised we won, we love where we live and it shows.”

Cr Shepherd said schools, community organisations, businesses and families should all be congratulated for making Mudgeeraba what it is today.

“We enjoy a relaxed rural lifestyle in an area that boasts easy access to all the modern day conveniences people have come to expect.

“This hasn't happened by accident. A lot of people have put a lot of effort into making this area special.

“Volunteers, community groups and individuals have been working tirelessly to promote our region.”
