THE mystery of Bundaberg's skeleton passenger has been solved.

His name is Stanley and he belongs to first year CQUniversity physiotherapy student Claire Olds.

Miss Olds said she was amused to see the story on the NewsMail website when her friend informed her a Bundaberg driver had snapped a photo of the pair driving about Bundaberg as they stopped at the lights.

"My friend saw it and emailed me the link and I was quite surprised," she said.

"Since then a few more friends have seen it and they think it's hilarious."

Miss Olds said she'd only received the plastic skeleton earlier this month as a gift and her friend had suggested the name.

"I found the skeletons at uni really useful to understand where the muscles connect so I asked for one as a birthday present," she said

"My friend thought he looked like a Stanley and I agreed."

Stanley, who often travels with Miss Olds in the car between her home in Maryborough and the CQUniversity campus in Bundaberg, does get noticed, but Miss Olds said she had no plans to let Stanley draw any more attention than he already does.

"I get quite a few strange looks from the road workers when I'm travelling between Bundaberg and Maryborough," she said.

"It's easier to put him in the front seat otherwise I'd have to take his legs off to put him in the boot.

"But I don't take him to the beach - he's solely for study purposes."
