Funding cuts unfairly hit region
CUTS to the Federal Government’s Higher Education Partnerships and Participation Program “unfairly target” universities in regional areas, the Regional Universities Network says.
The Federal Government reduced the funding for HEPPP by $152 million over four years.
The program will still receive $553 million over four years.
Universities Australia chief executive Belinda Robinson said the cut would harm potential students in regional and disadvantaged areas.
“Improving equity in higher education is not only fair, but an essential platform for building the diverse, skilled workforce of the future,” Ms Robinson said.
