Gable Tostee back on bail after court hearing adjourned

THE man facing a murder charge after a woman fell from the 14th floor balcony of his Surfers Paradise unit has had his committal hearing adjourned.

Gable Tostee appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning over New Zealand tourist Warriena Wright's death in August 2014.

But ABC reports the hearing was adjourned until October 2015 so witness statements from the police prosecution could be signed.

More than 30 statements, some from residents in the apartment block, were reportedly submitted by police.

Police have alleged Ms Wright plunged to her death while trying to escape Mr Tostee during a date organised through dating app Tinder.

Mr Tostee has maintained his innocence.

He remains on bail.

THE man charged with murder after a New Zealand tourist fell from his Gold Coast balcony during a Tinder date is set to face court on Wednesday.

A committal hearing for Gable Tostee is scheduled at the Southport Magistrates Court at 9am and the 29-year-old is expected to attend.

Court staff said an application could be made for cross-examination, or if agreed by the parties, a committal with cross-examination would take place.

On Tuesday evening, Mr Tostee's legal team were deciding whether to submit evidence at hearing.

At the end of the committal process, a judge will decide whether there is enough evidence for Mr Tostee to stand trial for murder or a lesser charge. He will also have the opportunity to enter a plea.
