SUNSHINE Coast paceman Matthew Gale will make his first foray this season onto the Ryobi Cup stage for the Queensland Bulls in today's crucial clash against New South Wales at the Gabba.

Gale, who made his one-day and first class debuts for Queensland last season, comes into the squad for left-arm quick Scott Walter in the only change to the twelve that defeated Tasmania in a thriller last week in Hobart.

It will not only be the first game this season for Queensland for the right-arm quick, but also his maiden appearance in Bulls colours at the Gabba.

Gale's four Sheffield Shield matches and solitary Ryobi Cup game last summer were all at away venues.

The 28-year-old captained the Flames team in the opening round of the KFC T20 Challenge and has taken 16 wickets at 17.94 for the Sunshine Coast Scorchers this season in the Brisbane Premier Grade competition.

Queensland's win in Tasmania, where the Bulls chased down 275 to win by five wickets, was its first in three Ryobi Cup matches this season. It will take on a New South Wales side smarting after a six wicket loss to Victoria at North Sydney Oval on Sunday.

The Blues set a target of 350, but the Bushrangers reached 4-352 with 20 balls to spare in what was an Australian domestic one-day record run chase.

The match is a day/nighter and will start at 1.15pm.

BULLS TEAM: Chris Hartley (c), Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Peter Forrest, Jason Floros, Matthew Gale, Cameron Gannon, Nathan Hauritz, Usman Khawaja, Chris Lynn, Alister McDermott, Nathan Reardon (12th man to be named).
