Game over for Tweed store

TWEED City games store GAME has gone into voluntary administration.

Owners TGW Pty Ltd have appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers partners Kate Warwick and Greg Hall as voluntary administrators after poor financial performance.

The company has issued a statement saying the store was no longer profitable and it was not possible to continue to trade.

According to Ms Warwick, it was not an easy decision.

"This is a difficult time for employees and closing the stores was not a decision we made easily," Ms Warwick said.

"However it is not financially viable to continue to operate at this level at this time.

"PwC has been in touch with the Federal Government Department that deals with General Employee Entitlements and Redundancy Scheme (GEERS) and will assist the employees with their applications."

It is believed three staff members will be affected.
