Gas used in attempted ATM robbery at South Tweed

BANDITS have attempted to use a gas-fuelled explosion to break into a Tweed Heads South Bank of Queensland ATM.

Tweed Byron LAC Detective Inspector Brendon Cullen said the attempted robbery occured about 5.50am this morning.

"It was an attempted theft from an ATM," he said.

"It appears they've attempted to use gas to explosive effect."
