Council endorses plan for future

GOLD Coast City Council has endorsed a new draft corporate plan for public exhibition.

The new plan will be Council's most important corporate planning tool over the next five years, according to Council's sustainable city future committee chair Councillor Peter Young.

He said the existing corporate plan was due to expire in the current financial year and a new plan was needed to set directions and guidelines for future growth.

The new plan was devised after consultation with 11,000 Gold Coast residents.

“It sets out the action up to 2014 that Council will take to deliver the Bold Future vision for our city, guiding the implementation of key programs and projects, city planning and our corporate framework,” Cr Young said.

“We will be assessing progress against the outcomes in the new plan on a quarterly and annual basis and periodically review the plan to ensure it remains effective.

“I urge people to review the document during the exhibition period and make submissions to us.”

The draft corporate plan will be on public display until May 8 at Council's customer service centres at Nerang, Surfers, Burleigh, Coolangatta, Southport, Palm Beach and Broadbeach, as well as Council libraries and at goldcoast.qld.gov.au.
