Gentlemen go bananas over rugby

GUYS, desperate to play club rugby but the girls won’t have it?

How about if you could tell them, without lying, that you’re going to learn how to be a better gentleman?

Well sign up with Gentlemen of Murwillumbah Rugby Union Football Club (the Bananas) at Brothers Leagues Club (Banana Park) tomorrow.

The only Tweed representation in the NSW Far North Coast Rugby Union, the Gentlemen finished just outside the four in their 2010 debut season.

Although disappointed with their negative win-loss record, for the players, coaching staff and a growing band of supporters, it was a terrific beginning for the fledgling club.

And if you ask anyone around town, they’re set for bigger and better things in season 2011.

Training will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at Banana Park from 6.30pm, with matches scheduled for 2pm every Saturday.

Sign-on runs from 1-4pm tomorrow and interested players unable to attend can contact Geoff Campbell on 02 6679 5123 or Michael Cooper on 02 6679 5570.

Just be sure not to use the club’s other nickname, the Bananas, when saying where you are going or they may just think you’ve lost the plot.
