Get a free haircut this Christmas

CHRISTMAS can be a tough time for anyone down on their luck but the Coolangatta Senior Citizens Centre wants to help.

Hairdresser Suzie Bendig is offering to cut people's hair for free at the centre as a special Christmas present to those less fortunate.

"There a lot of homeless around and unfortunate people, so my husband came up with the idea to do the good thing and cut for free,” Ms Bendig said.

"Some people are struggling on single pensions and can find it really hard these days with the rates going up that they can't afford to have a proper hair do.

"It'll hopefully lift them up a little bit.”

Ms Bendig said she was happy to cut young people's hair for free too, if required.

"For younger people, they might be coming out of foster care, they might be abused or they end up on the street because they have no work or friends and family,” she said.

"I thought to get the chance to find work they have to look sharp.”
