Get a taste for French

EXPERIENCE all things French at Kingscliff TAFE.

“A Taste of French” conversation and cooking class will launch at the campus this Saturday.

Participants will be taken on a learning adventure for the mind and the taste buds as Coco Voinot and Igor Persan lead a crash course on cuisine, culture and language.

Ms Voinot, a native of Reims in the champagne region of north-east France, will lead the language component of the cosmopolitan course.

“This is something very unique. I have been teaching French on the Tweed for many years and a few of my students suggested they would like to learn French cooking,” she said.

“It will be a French- emersion in a fun, relaxed atmosphere where people can ask all the questions they want.”

Chef Igor Persan was born and trained in Lyon, the capital of French gastronomy, and is the head chef at the Petit Snail Byron Bay.

Mr Persan will guide students through the preparation of a signature regional dish like Burgundy coq au vin and gratin Dauphinois every second week.

Learn to be confident with greetings, French social culture, etiquette, gestures and cultural taboos.

The eight-week course begins on March 5.
