Get inked at the Tweed Coast Tattoo Show

TATTOO enthusiasts will have the chance to prove they are the best-inked in town at the 9th Annual Tweed Coast Tattoo Show on Saturday.

Men and women will show off their body art in the hope of winning trophies from 14 different categories, including best colour tattoo, best Celtic tattoo, best tribal and judge's choice.

Innocent Ink from South Tweed will be submitting several tattoos in the show, which parlour owner Gary Davis said were more than 'just ink'.

"We have some really nice work being submitted, it's not just tattoos, it's artwork. It's harder than putting a paint brush to canvas, because it's putting it on the skin," Mr Davis said.

He is encouraging any other residents in the Tweed, proud of their body art, to head to the Kirra Sport Club to show it off to an experienced panel of judges.

"When people come down they can sign on, get on stage and display their tattoos to a panel of judges who are experienced in judging tattoos, and they will have a look at the colour and detail of the work," he said.

Registration of tattoos will be from 12:00 midday until 3:00pm, for a show start at 3:00pm, and a trophy presentation at 4:30pm.

Entry is on the door for $15 at Kirra Sports club, 22 Appel Street, Kirra.
