Water lot of fun at Hastings

THE SKIES cleared and the sun broke through to shine on the spectacular opening of a veritable water wonderland at Hastings Point on Saturday morning.

Tweed MP Geoff Provest joined North Star Holiday resort owner Ian Beadel in opening a brand new adventure water playground that has every conceivable water-based gadget, including Australia's only water piano.

The multi-award-winning resort has won recognition for its facilities that include a unique marine museum and acknowledgment of its environmental initiatives.

The water playground is "icing on the cake" for visitors, with Mr Provest also commending the owners and staff for their sense of community and family.

"North Star is much more than a resort," Mr Provest said.

"It's a community with the warmth of family, and a really exciting place to spend a holiday."

Part of the resort's existing pool area has been transformed into a massive water playground, with a brand new aqua play structure that is three storeys high.

The structure includes water slides, water

cannons, and a 600-litre bucket that empties with a cascade of water over the entire structure every six minutes.

"The Water Playground sets a new benchmark for caravan parks," said Mr Beadel.

"It's a fantastic addition to our other facilities which include the Seascape Leisure Centre/Day Spa and free kids club, Neptune's Castle, that operates fully supervised activities on weekends and school holidays.

"Our guests are really excited about this great facility and many of them followed the construction progress on our Facebook page."

The BIG4 North Star Holiday Resort recently took out the prestigious Best of the Best Award and Best 4.5-5 Star Resort Under 100 sites at the CCIA Awards for Excellence.
