Gillard will not be last female PM

JULIA Gillard may be the country's first female Prime Minister, but she will not be the last according to a Murwillumbah business leader.

Nutritionist and naturopath Olwen Anderson, part of the organising team for the Murwillumbah Business Women’s Networking Breakfast, believed today's leadership changeover would inspire other young women to aspire for the country’s top job.

“It’s one of the wonderful things to come from this,” Ms Anderson said.

“Women interested in stepping into leadership roles now have another role model with Julia Gillard.

“It’s inevitable we will have another female Prime Minister in the future.”

Kevin Rudd stood down as Prime Minister shortly before an ALP leadership ballot this morning at 9am.

Ms Gillard was elected unopposed with Treasurer Wayne Swan as Deputy Prime Minister.
