New book recalls war-torn youth

TWEED residents are being invited to hear a story which spans three centuries and three continents.

Tweed author Gisela McIntyre has written a book entitled So Many Stories to Tell in which she describes her wartime childhood, life in Germany after World War Two and how she built a new life in Australia.

“The book is about my life and family history, it took years to put it all together,” Mrs McIntyre said.

“I think people will like it because people are very interested in history. It is full of historical events.” The book is billed as a “unique memoir” and promises to deliver a story of love, sacrifice, adventure and travel.

Ms McIntyre writes about the hardships of living in a war-torn country including food shortages, air raids and evacuations.

Readers who are eager to meet Ms McIntyre and collect an autographed copy of her book are being given the opportunity to do so on Thursday, November 4.

The book signing will take place at Collins Booksellers in Tweed Mall from 11am DST.
