Gold Coast going for the exotic

LAUNCHING a fashion label on the Gold Coast is no mean feat and designers Brie Shinn and Alex Longstaff have proven it's not all runway shows and flirty frocks.

The Burleigh Heads duo is the brains behind LoKoa, a brand that specialises in handmade leather designs that has gone from strength to strength in Australia.

The designers have set their label apart by selling online, through selected boutiques, mixing with their clientele at designer markets and shooting their latest campaigns in Bali.

"Alex and I knew that we had something special in LoKoa, but it has grown so rapidly, we almost can't believe it.

"The women on the Gold Coast really know how to utilise the array of fashion available to them to accentuate their unique style, particularly the amazing array of local designers.

"We're thrilled to be included in such an elite group," said Ms Shinn.

"We are Gold Coast girls by heart, and most of our customers are Gold Coasters however we have a big clientele of interstate visitors who love to shop online.

"Our aim is to respond to what our personal shoppers want.

"Shooting in Bali was an experience unlike any other. Australia is beautiful but we wanted to create a feel for our new line that was exotic and seductive," Ms Longstaff said.
