Gold Coast heats-up early

WINTER has been banished from the Gold Coast with Coolangatta recording the highest temperature this year at the weekend.

Coolangatta reached 33 degrees on Sunday, making it the hottest day of 2011 on the Gold Coast, confirmed a meteorologist from the Weather Channel.

The temperature is expected to reach 28 degrees on the coast today, with the heat levels dropping off towards the end of the week.

The Australian Weather Bureau has released information showing the Gold Coast is likely to be wetter and hotter than normal over the next three months.
