Gold Coast keen to crush Scorpions

GOLD Coast Football Club is hoping their last-start draw with Werribee in Melbourne will be the tonic to kick-start their season, starting with a victory over the Casey Scorpions at Southport today.

The match has been transferred to Southport from Labrador after an inspection of the Labrador ground deemed that it had not recovered to an acceptable level for VFL football.

Sitting in 13th with two losses and a draw thus far in their debut season , the young GCFC hopefuls have made their first team change for the season. Coach Guy McKenna will rest ruckman Rory Thompson and bring in Tim Plummer.

Todd Grayson has also joined the squad as an emergency and McKenna said changes to this week’s squad reflect a need to rotate his young players after three weeks of intense VFL football. He did say, however, that the rough and tumble of tough week in, week out VFL football is helping evolve the playing group physically.

“The group’s definitely getting used to working hard,” he said.

The first bounce is at 2.10pm.
