Gold Coast primed to shine

THE performance of the Suns in the NAB Cup proves we have the potential to nail this season with some exciting training sessions in the past few days.

We had a solid pre-season with some wins against the Swans and GWS and now we just have to work on our four-quarter effort.

A bye in the first round has given us an extra week of preparation and the chance to scope out this year’s competition.

It will definitely help us prepare and we do have a fair few things we will use the extra time to fix.

Teams like Collingwood and Geelong are running at their peak so every game will be a challenge for us, but I think a few of the sides will be caught off guard with our fast-paced game style.

Our first game will be against Carlton in round two at the Gabba.

I like to think we’ll have the home-field advantage, we’re definitely closer to the Gabba than they are.

There’s a lot of exciting players who will make their debut and having such a quick, young squad will definitely give us an advantage, but not knowing the full squads yet makes it a difficult match to pick.

Things are all going to plan with the stadium, with round 10 rumoured to be our first official home game for the season.

It is looking unreal and I’m really hoping it will be finished on time.
