Gold Coast still on flood watch

THE Gold Coast remains under flood watch today after torrential rain and strong winds battered the south-east corner of Queensland and northern NSW yesterday.

The Bureau of Meterology (BOM) is warning that further heavy falls today could bring more localised flooding to an already saturated border region.

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh yesterday declared the south-east region a flood disaster, activating emergency funding for rescue and relief operations.

It comes as a Gold Coast man was killed by the wild weather, after a metal bar became airborne and smashed into a glass window he was standing near.

How is the wild weather affecting you? Tell us your story below or send us photos.

"We live in an estate on the Gold Coast with extensive damage. Our 4m by 4m backyard is currently occupied by a tree and our kick/chase areadown the back has become a swimming pool." Lucy said.
