Gold Coast young guns dazzle Bendigo

THE Gold Coast Football Club young guns continued to impress home fans with another dazzling TAC Cup performance at Carrara Stadium on Saturday.

Four goals to stand-out Charlie Dixon and an impressive captain's knock from Terranora's Marc Lock paved the way for a convincing 12.14-86 to 6.11-47 over Bendigo Pioneers.

It was a somewhat slow start for the now fourth-placed outfit, only managing 1.5-11 in the first term, before firing 3.3-21 in the second to enter the break six points clear.

However, whatever coach Guy McKenna said to his troops at the main break got the desired result, and the youngsters opened up on their unsuspecting victims, kicking eight majors while holding their opposition to just two.

The win, GCFC's ninth for the season, leaves them just two points adrift of the second (Dandenong Stingrays) and third-placed outfits (Gippsland Power).

Hence a win next week away to Gippsland would elevate the Gold Coasters to at least third spot with one game remaining in their debut season.
